Eugenio Ampudia

Currently one of Spain’s most recognized artists, his work received the 2008 Delfina Foundation Grant (London) and the AECA Prize for best living Spanish artist represented at ARCO08.

His work investigates the artistic process, the artist as a manager of ideas, the political role of the creator, the meaning of a work of art, the strategies that allow one to put it in action, the mechanism of production, promotion and consumption and the efficiency of spaces designated for art with a critical attitude, and analyzes the experience of those who contemplate and interpret art.

His works have been exhibited internationally in places such as ZKM, Karlsruhe, Germany; Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts, Amman, Jordan; Museo Carrillo Gil, Mexico City, Centro de las Artes de Monterrey and Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Oaxaca, México;, Mexico; Open For Works, Matadero Madrid, Spain; MAC Gas Natural Fenosa, La Coruña, Spain; Boston Center for the Arts, Boston (MA), USA; Ayala Museum, Manila, Phillipines; and in Bi-annuals such as Singapore, Havana, and The End of the World Bi-annual. His works can be found in collections such as MNCARS, MUSAC, ARTIUM, IVAM, La Caixa, among others.
